FAQ about the CADDY Format Specifications

Q: What is CADDY-xml?

A: CADDY-xml is based on the CADDY 2.0 format, but introduces some important differences by providing the general information, a table of contents, confidential and non-confidential documents, report information and hyperlink information in an XML framework. Please see the page CADDY-xml for more details.

Q: Why is there a version 2.0 of the CADDY Format Specification?

A: The survey among CADDY users of the European Regulatory Authorities has shown that further improvements in the evaluation process are requested. Wishes and suggestions to further improve the evaluation-functionality of CADDY have been categorized and decided upon at the Joint CADDY Steering Group meeting in October 2000. The enhancements are included in the new version 2.0 of the CADDY Format Specification, e.g. CADDY Controlled Files and CADDY hyperlinks.

Q: Is the former Format Specification 1.1 still valid?

A: Both versions of the CADDY Format Specification (1.1 and 2.0) are valid. Any application that is able to read a CADDY Format Specification 2.0 compliant dossier has to be able to read dossiers compliant to former versions of the CADDY Format Specification. This also applies to the new Version 2.0 of the CADDY Retrieval Software that is able to read both CADDY 1.1 and 2.0 Format Specification conform dossiers.

FAQ about the CADDY Retrieval Software (RSW)

Q: What is the functionality of the Retrieval Software?

A: The CADDY Retrieval Software is a tool for reviewing dossiers that are submitted in the CADDY format and is designed to efficiently support the reviewing process. It is NOT a tool to compile dossiers in the CADDY format.
There are several companies who provide services and software tools for creating CADDY dossiers. More information is available on this website in the section CADDY Related Links.

Q: I cannot log into the CADDY Retrieval Software - what are the initial credentials?

A: Initial username is "reviewer", password is "caddy". You can add new users and disable this initial account in the software ("Tools" - "User Administration" - "View User List"). Please see the CADDY Retrieval Software Training Materials for further information regarding the use and administration of the software.

Q: Why do I get the message "1207: Windows Installer..."? (RSW 1.3, Rev, 2)

A: On some Windows 2000 systems the RSW 1.3 Revision 2 installation shows the message "1207: Windows Installer ... found. This is an older version of the Windows Installer."
This message occurs if your system has an older Windows Installer installed. Click on button "ok", the installation of RSW 1.3 Revision 2 will go on without any further problems. A new Windows Installer can be downloaded for free at http://www.microsoft.com.
After the installation of the new Windows Installer the error message will not show up any more.

Q: Why does the RSW setup end premature? (Network installation, RSW 1.3)

A: Symptom: The CADDY RSW Setup ends after the first installation messages (installation from network drives)
If the installation ends without any dialogs at all when installing the software from a network drive, please install the software directly from CD-Drive or hard disk.
